On the road to the 2nd Justicia Global International Summit!
May 25-27, 2006. Dominican Republic

Thank you for your interest in the Second International Summit of Justicia Global!
This summit is open to all organizations and individuals who are interested in the topics to be discussed and who want to contribute to this project of international solidarity and justice. The summit will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, May 25-27, 2006, addressing the following topics:
- Manipulation in mass media and alternative media sources
- The current situation in Haiti
- Women as agents of social transformation
- Free trade agreements
- Building a culture of solidarity.
The summit will consist of a mixture of lectures, panels, cultural activities, working groups, and encounters in urban and rural communities. We are currently exploring creative translation methods, but for now the principal language of the events will be Spanish. All international participants will be lodged in one place so as to facilitate informal relationship-building as well.
We are proud to announce the participation of the celebrated Venezuelan author, Luis Britto Garcia. Mr. Britto is an essayist, novelist, and newspaper opinion writer, author of a vast body of work on political discourse and counterculture. In 2001 he was awarded the National Prize for Literature in Venezuela.
He will give keynote presentations on the manipulation of mass media and media alternatives in Latin America.
We are finalizing our calculations regarding the registration fee of the summit. We do know that the fee will include conference materials, housing, food, and local transportation from the evening of May 24 until noon on the 28th.
Justicia Global is a social organization with international and community components. Our principal goal is the construction of a culture of solidarity through the work with several sectors: young adults, students, families, and children. While our principal location is the Dominican Republic, we have members throughout Latin America, the United States, and recently in Europe.
Justicia Global calls people to open their eyes and wake up to this social reality and its specific manifestations in their own communities. Toward this end, we find the need to create international networks of cooperation. Together we can work toward building a society of respect of human rights, justice, solidarity, and peace.
